Storytelling in schools

Storytelling is a powerful educational tool. This ancient art is accessible to children of all ages and abilities. It encourages good listening skills, supports language development and is a huge stimulus to the imagination.

Storytelling sessions for Early Years, and Key Stages 1 and 2 are fun and interactive, with riddles, music and songs woven between the stories to create a varied and engaging programme.

Sessions can be tailored to support a particular curriculum topic eg. Vikings, Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, Journeys and Travel, Weather and the Seasons. Stories can offer an excellent introduction to a PSHE topic around themes of friendship, responsibility, respect and tolerance, creating a springboard for discussion and workshops.

Storytelling is an excellent tool for building confidence, developing emotional intelligence and enabling children to gain a deeper understanding of narratives, themes and characters. One Moment In Time deliver storytelling workshops for schools which facilitate the development of children's speaking and listening skills through story, role play and interactive games.
